There are different or I should say “more” exams required based on how much life insurance coverage you need or want. In other words, the higher the coverage, the more in depth medical information needed by the life insurance company. Under $100,000
Ages 18-65 – If coverage is under $100,000 you may not be required to take any exams, however, please note that when you fill out your application you also sign a release which gives your health care provider permission to release your medical records to your insurer. If you don’t have a medical history you might be asked to take exams. Example: An agent sees a client who hasn’t been to the doctor in over 10 years. In this case he doesn’t have current, up to date medical history and the insurance company needs to know this information. So this is why further tests are needed in this particular situation.
Ages 66 and up – Paramedical exam and urine
From $100-$350,000 Ages 18-60 – Blood and urine Ages 61-65 – Paramedical exam, blood and urine Ages 66 and up- Paramedical exam, EKG, blood and urine
From 350,000-$500,000
