Life insurance agents Are they too pushy?
When picturing an agent, many people may immediatelyconjure images of the “pushy salesman.” You and I both know that no one likes to feel pressured into buying anything! Maybe youneed time to think about it or maybe you’re still shopping around for life insurance quotes. That is perfectly fine and also very smart! If you’re not thinking of shopping around then you reallyshould! When you shop around and compare policies you have a better chance of finding a superior deal. Okay… so you don’t want to deal with the pushy agent? First of all, not all agents willbe pushy, this is a common misconception, although.. I’m sure there are some. Life insurance agents have a code of ethics to uphold and your needs must always be putfirst above their commission. If you feel that your agent is too pushy, then politely inform them that you will need more time to think about it. You might mention that right now you are shopping around for the best rate and coverage or you could also say you need to discuss it with your family. After all, purchasing life insurance is a big decision and you’re making a long commitment!
Life Insurance Agents work on Commission Selling life insurance is a sales job so your premium will have what is called a “load,” or the agent’s commission built in. Note: There are policies called no load life insurance which you can purchase that don’t have all the fees included which can result in some savings… more on this later. So maybe you are afraid the agent is only thinking about his/her commission and trying to just sell you an expensive policy. Does this sound like a conflict of interest? This of course is a valid fear, however, as stated above life insurance agents have a code of ethics to uphold and their job is to put your needs first.. yes, even over their commission! If you’re wondering how they benefit by doing this then read on.If you really like them and feel they provided a great service to you, and really had your needs in mind, then you just might refer family and friends to them! Can you see how putting your needs first will pay off for them? So what do you do if you feel your agent is not listening to you?The answer to that is simple… look for another! And don’t hesitate on this one. There are plenty of others that can ethically and fairly help you find life insurance coverage! You want an agent you can trust and one that will put your needs first.
